Sean Hully is recognized by the Royal Conservatory of Music as an Advanced Saxophone Specialist. He also instructs clarinet, flute, classical guitar and introductory piano. In music lessons, Sean focuses on fundamentals, adapting to the student’s individual needs and learning style.
Sean has performed with Carnival Cruise Lines, toured with tribute acts across Canada and the U.S.A., and released an independent album titled “Interaction” in 2002. He has a Master of Arts in Composition from York University (2007), a Licentiate of Music in classical saxophone (1993), and a Bachelor of Music (1991) from Queen’s University. Sean studied jazz with saxophonist Pat Labarbera at Humber College and he continues to be an active musician today.
Sean taught private music lessons at The Sterling Hall School in Toronto, a prestigious school for boys from kindergarten to grade eight. He has also taught band at Blaisedale Montessori School in Pickering and was a TA at York University. Some of his graduate school work was researching the acquisition of musical principals through practising and performance, including brain function, psychology, and methodologies of transmitting musical traditions in various cultures.
Musically, he is now performing solo, singing with a guitar, sax, and flute using an electronic phrase sampler. Check his website for the latest!
