Music Lessons with Sean Hully

I teach up to advanced saxophone, and up to intermediate clarinet, flute, classical guitar, standard guitar and electric bass.

I stress fundamentals, note reading, and technique. I use method books and supplement it with songs or ideas that the student will enjoy playing once I feel they can succeed.

For students who show interest and determination, I recommend more formal studies through the Conservatory and taking exams. Certain conservatory exams are recognized as secondary school credits in Ontario.

Some desire support with their school music programme. Lessons can sometimes get the student ahead of their music class, provided they practice at least 20 to 30 minutes per day.

I encourage students to participate in the Kiwanis Music Festival each year. It is a great experience to prepare music for an event and then receive objective constructive feedback.

Advanced students can learn jazz styles and approaches to improvisation.
